Who Will Clear the Seabeds of WWII Mines for Gas Pipelines? Robots INFRASTRUCTURIST

Who Will Clear the Seabeds of WWII Mines for Gas Pipelines? Robots INFRASTRUCTURIST
Thanks to Kurt Schwehr for the link to this story. We've been asked to participate in an advisory role for folks in the Baltic concerned about the environmental impacts of the proposed Nord Stream project and now I see what. A novel application of robots to a dangerous task. Using ROVs to perform the site survey, however, is not a very efficient way to do it. Given the shallow nature of the Baltic this work could readily be done by an AUV...good thing we are building a magnetometer module for the AUV this year.
